But at the weekend, when I got back from my Trials comp, I threw caution to the wind, and threw the electrics in so I could have a run on my rockpile.....
Well, I am very very impressed, without any tuning, this rig absolutely performs
It does everything my BJ4 did, and some
I might still run my battery on the gearbox, we shall see, if I do though, I'll be making some new bent top links, at the moment the battery just catches them even on the top hole.
Cant wait to get it properly dialed in........when it is, this truck will be hard to beat I'm sure, just hope the driver can keep his cool too
Coming from you, I am glad to hear it does all the BJ did and then some! That is good news Definitely put the battery weight on the axle in some fashion. the vertical climb and side hill just get better when that weight is unsprung nothing else suffers as a result either.

Re: Jordi's Viper Berg
For now the truck is complete .....
The only biggish job left to do is to drop some ax10 ally knuckles on to gain a touch of castor, I got hold of some 3racing ones, but I thought they were a bit weedy, so I left it
This weekend will be time for a shakedown a bit of tweaking and hopefully a video and some pictures
I'll repost my build thread on rcc too, I tried to rename it, I contacted a couple of mods, to no avail...

Re: Jordi's Viper Berg
Which mods have you reached out too on RCC?
I usually ask Reflection with a link to the thread in the PM and he has it done within 24 hours for me.
I'm looking forward to pics and video.

Cool video's Martin Nice driving and the rig is looking great.
I'm very happy to here that is easily walks the same lines as your BJ, that means We did good work We being Juan mostly, with a little input from me in the early days of this project...

I had the 3racing on both mine and tylers fastbacks. We beat the piss out of those rigs,(ask DT) c-hubs held up fine. Im thinking of doing the c-hub mod also.

Re: Jordi's Viper Berg
Bill, Ok, I've got the 3 racing chubs, berg VP knuckles and Berg 300's, it should all go together??
Or do I need the Axial VP knuckles, but then will my 300's fit? (got some as it happens off my old SWX)
I was going to give it a shot tonight, but I'll be using my dremel and hand files to shave the tubes
I dont want to screw up some tubes and find it wont work.
(I have got a complete set of brand new in box berg axles, but I dont want to have to use em!)

Re: Jordi's Viper Berg
I had mine all apart the other day was gonna do it ,but chickened out. I put the berg vp knuckles together with the 3racing c-hubs they seemed like a perfect fit. the only thing (i think ) is making sure the c-hubs and the pins in the 300 line up correctly. I would send a PM to SDS customz and ask him.He would know. Or maybe just post the Question on your build thread. I just called a friend (kennyj) who just did this he said" you might have to grind about a 1/16" of the end of the tubes" otherwise youll have a little toe-in. I think i am going to do this mod after our state comp on Sat. If i dont puss out againjordi555 wrote:Bill, Ok, I've got the 3 racing chubs, berg VP knuckles and Berg 300's, it should all go together??

Re: Jordi's Viper Berg
I've pm'd SDS, see what he comes back with
I'm in no rush Only wanted to do it tonight
I've flipped my knuckles around, like you have yours, and made up a new tie rod
I think it feels better, gained a bit more steering and it seems more solid somehow, probably to do with the straighter rod
Anyhow I shall try and test it this weekend see how it does

Re: Jordi's Viper Berg
I love my new steering set-up. My outside tire is using every bit of steering angle that the 300 will give. Just need the neg castor, that will help also.

Re: Jordi's Viper Berg
Got this back from Super Dave
''It would depend on what the c hubs are for. basically you should only need to align the kingpins in the same location for axle engagement into the locker. the outer will still depend on what style of knuckle you have. ''
I'll have a look later, then decide.......to wuss out for now probably
I'll post it in my build thread...I think it's grizzly 4x4 or 4xford thats done it already, have to check their build threads

Re: Jordi's Viper Berg
That basically what i was saying. Im going to measure from one kingpin screw hole to the other, so when i put the chub on the distance between them(kingpin holes) is the same.

Re: Jordi's Viper Berg
I had another look at the c hub mod last night and I'm not too happy about it
I like carrying out modifications, but I feel I'll be compromising the integrity of the tubes too much.
So... I'm going to order some Clover tubes off 66Bronco Bryan... job done
