Re: Jordi's Viper Berg
Built and running
Saturday is the day I get some time to test this thing, I had 10 mins in the dark tonight with it on my rockpile and was suitably impressed.. ground clearance is amazing !
I want to mess with shock positions and links etc
Once the minor tweaks are sorted, this chassis will be a winner for sure
I just need to make some proper panels including sides as the ones on now are just cut down from the V1..
You can see my front turned tubes and new Axial C Hubs in the last picture
I have to say, it looks fucking mean too

I was thinking the same thing!! I was wondering to myself, "Why does Martin's rig always look so damn good"? I think it's the pointy panels.

Re: Jordi's Viper Berg
Very much off topic, but this what i've been up to this weekend
As most of you probably already know, I'm into motorcycle trials
Well I got the new bicycle so I can spend yet more time with my boy.
I rode this thing solid for 4 hours yesterday and I can hardly move a muscle today
It's a lot of fun though..
I posted this video on a trials forum and got some very nice replies, which surprised me a lot, take a look..

What you probably cant make out is a UGC sticker on the headtube

Re: Jordi's Viper Berg
Nice!! I want one!! I raced Mountain Bikes for quite a few years, but always wanted a trials bike. Might have to snag one this summer.

Re: Jordi's Viper Berg
The berg is on a diet
No pics yet cause its still in bits and waiting for parts, dlux wheels, Viper Lite, alloy balls for rod ends, new CI foams and some thin panels
So far I've drilled the gears, had the tubes turned down, swapped most of the steel hardware for alloy, shaved the donas, ground the gear cases as much as I dare, swapped out top ti links for alloy.
At this point rtr I'm just sub 5lbs
With all the other parts in place I should be somewhere near 4.5lbs

I need to get mine back together and get some practice soon..
UK Nats are coming up in about a 4 weeks from now and I,m really very rusty, especially with being laid up for nearly two months.

If you can walk into Nat's with a new rig, rusty, and injured and pull off a 3 peat.... I bow to you sir!

I shall try my best, I can feel the pressure building already,
Will need to take something to calm my nerves this year, my trigger finger was way to jerky in the morning last year
Something herbal I think

Usually calms me down! Though these days I can't enjoy often. The FAA has my job pee test us all the time.
Re: Jordi's Viper Berg
Viper Lite showed up earlier this week
I've been busy putting this thing on a diet, this is what I've done so far....
Tubes machined down
Gear cases ground
Gears drilled
Gone back to ally top links
Swapped most hardware to ally
Revo rod ball swapped for ally
Panels now .2mm (still bolted on ) no paint, too heavy and it falls off anyways
ERIK D cf wheels
Electrics shortened
Sedonas shaved
CI closed cell foams
I'm at 4lb 10 with 3 1/4 oz of knuckle weight each side
I still need to shave the skid, take some more off the rear gear case and play with the lower front links
I'm happy with how it drives, pulled lines I've struggled with for ages today, made light work of everything I've got around the house
I'll settle with a weight of around 4lb 8oz to 4lb 10oz, it feels amazing
My balance point is just forward of my front lower link mounts
I may go back to a .75mm panel on the roof as the .2mm one sometimes struggles to hold up and gets ripped off when correcting from upside down
A few shots from earlier today...
got rained off, freak flooding nearby,, we've had the wettest June for 20years
I was a bit sceptical of the lite weight truck idea, but since trying it, I have seen the way forward.. it's awesome
I dont use that word very often either
I've still got a tonne of stuff to try still as well

Re: Jordi's Viper Berg
Ain't no crawlin or wheelin of any kind going on for me any time soon
Bust my right scaphoid at the weekend, got a cast on from my fingers to my elbow for the next 6 weeks minimum
It's been a bad year for me for injuries, just getting over my back problems and this happens.....gutted
I was catapulted over the bars of my mountain bike, I landed real hard onto the asphalt, palms down.......
Off to the hospital tomorrow, maybe able to get it pinned to speed up recovery..

Re: Jordi's Viper Berg
Thought I'd get back to my build thread rather than clogging up the Stingray one.
Anyways, I've been in touch and dropped some money to Erik D for new tubes, gearboxes, rear shafts, bully universal, Ti links and link mounts
I've got some bully knuckles and hexes coming from RC3WD, electrics smash is nearly done, making some new 3/16" ally spacers for the cab, new servo horn, new drag link, new rod ends, new lipos, shocks having some work too, have I missed anything.
I've just recently re kitted out my workstation in the garage, and its given me fresh incentive to do some work.
It's going to be a while before its done, but there's no rush as its still snowing here.
