DT's 2011 UGC XR
On Saturday my 3 in a row win streak was broken. I still made the podium though with a 3rd place finish
At least the new panels looked good losing

Good job Richard. If Mini wasn't there to mess things up, it would have been Viper's 2nd and 3rd.

Electronics sitting nice and low "thumbsup"
I need to get some 3/8 delrin sheet to remake this mount. I had cutting board from an old school super I had.

Re: DT's 2011 UGC XR
I had a chance for a little daddy time today. I tore down the v2 proto and got a start on the production assembly.
Sanded and sealed the CF edges with CA:
Got the electronics mounted:
I'll hopefully have it done tomorrow, I should get a couple hours of me time if I don't sleep through it

Re: DT's 2011 UGC XR
My Chaotic Crawlers Ti steering link showed up today.
My ho-made 1/4 SS tube with 8/32 all thread:
The Chaotic link:
Installed:
and I got a little more work done on the rebuild, Trying Martin's upper link inboarding. Here's hoping I can maintain the same side hill stability.

Re: DT's 2011 UGC XR
I like it
I hope the inboarded links work for you, you'll find out before me for sure
I'm waiting for my trays to arrive before I finish the build.
Panels are cut and fitted.
I've gone for something a little different to you guys!
Paint goes on tonight, hopefully if I get the chance
I'll post some pics as soon as it's done.
Where have you installed your Rx?,

The rx is on the prototype electronics tray by the rear lower links. Due to the CP prototype motorguard\battery mount, which will not get made now but at least I have one!
I use the electronics tray on the rear as shown in earlier pics.

A few guys have done that, or heated and formed delrin sheet around the motor with a tongue sticking out to hold battery.flapjack wrote:well that sux i really really wanted one.....guess ill make mine out of poly pipe like my motor skids
Re: DT's 2011 UGC XR
I got it all together and took it out for a shakedown today. It has a more precise feel to it going from delrin to CF for the lower plates. I will be keeping the links inboarded as well. It did all the big side hills that our local spot has to offer, including digging uphill on a couple of them. The vertical climb is un changed, articulation moves are smoother with reduced chassis flex as well.

Thanks Martin, the rocks at Miramar are amazing. I have yet to crawl lava, but I imagine it the only rock in the world capable of more traction than coquina rock.
Here is a few more pics from Saturday that I liked and forgot to upload:
Re: DT's 2011 UGC XR

On the slicker stuff I do use rear dig to move the ass end, on the grippier rocks, I just front burn and commit to a steady throttle level, it pulls right up hill

Just keep in mind rock surfaces. Not much on the planet if anything has more grip than shell rock... maybe lava, but it would be close.
Re: DT's 2011 UGC XR

Great so far the extra clearance is good, it did require a little retuning for anti squat.
